The Dressing Drum is a specialized, cylindrical container that is a cornerstone of any hospital's or clinic's sterilization department. Its primary function is to facilitate the steam sterilization (autoclaving) of surgical dressings, gowns, and other porous medical materials. Crafted from high-grade, seamless stainless steel, the drum features strategically placed adjustable perforations or vents on its side and lid.
How to Use the Product
Loading: The dressings or other materials are placed loosely inside the drum to allow for proper steam circulation. The drum should not be overfilled.
Preparation for Sterilization: The adjustable vents on the side and lid are opened before the drum is placed in the autoclave to allow steam to enter.
Sterilization Cycle: The drum is placed in the autoclave and run through a full steam sterilization cycle (e.g., at 121°C or 134°C).
Closing Vents: Immediately after the cycle is complete and the drum is removed from the autoclave, the vents are closed to seal the contents and maintain sterility.
Storage: The sealed drum is then stored in a clean, dry environment until the sterile supplies are needed. The contents remain sterile for a specific period, which should be tracked.
